Res. 58/79 of 9 December 2003 (F, S, R, C, A)

Welcomed the holding of the first and second resumptions of the first session and the second session of the Assembly of States Parties, in New York from 3 to 7 February and 21 to 23 April 2003 and from 8 to 12 September 2003, respectively, and also welcomed the election of judges and the Prosecutor and the adoption of a number of instruments. Took note of the establishment of the Special Working Group on the Crime of Aggression by the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, open to all States on an equal footing, and of the possibility that at some future time the meeting of that working group may be held at United Nations Headquarters. Welcomed the establishment of the Permanent Secretariat of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. Invited the Secretary-General to take steps to conclude a relationship agreement between the United Nations and the International Criminal Court and to submit the negotiated draft agreement to the General Assembly for approval.

Took note of the report of the Secretary-General (A/57/403), in particular paragraphs 12 to 15 indicating the decision of the Assembly of States Parties to resume its first session from 3 to 7 February and from 21 to 23 April 2003 and to hold the meeting of the Committee on Budget and Finance from 4 to 8 August 2003 and the second session of the Assembly of States Parties from 8 to 12 September 2003, all of which are to be held at United Nations Headquarters.

Res. 56/85 of 12 December 2001 (F, S, R, C, A)

Requested the Secretary-General to reconvene the Preparatory Commission, in accordance with resolution F, from 8 to 19 April and from 1 to 12 July 2002, to continue to carry out the mandate of that resolution and, in that connection, to discuss ways to enhance the effectiveness and acceptance of the Court. Requested the Secretary-General to undertake the preparations necessary to convene, in accordance with article 112, paragraph 1, of the Rome Statute, the meeting of the Assembly of States Parties to be held at United Nations Headquarters upon the entry into force of the Statute in accordance with article 126, paragraph 1, of the Statute.

Requested the Secretary-General to reconvene the Preparatory Commission, in accordance with resolution F adopted by the Conference, from 26 February to 9 March 2001, and from 24 September to 5 October 2001, to continue to carry out the mandate of that resolution and, in that connection, to discuss ways to enhance the effectiveness and acceptance of the Court.

Requested the Secretary-General to convene the Preparatory Commission, in accordance with resolution F adopted by the Conference, from 13 to 31 March, 12 to 30 June and 27 November to 8 December 2000, to carry out the mandate in that resolution and, in that connection, to discuss ways to enhance the effectiveness and acceptance of the Court.

Requested the Secretary-General to convene the Preparatory Commission, in accordance with resolution F adopted by the Rome Conference, from 16 to 26 February, 26 July to 13 August and 29 November to 17 December 1999, to carry out the mandate of that resolution and, in that connection, to discuss ways to enhance the effectiveness and acceptance of the Court.  
 
Res. 52/160 of 15 December 1997  (F, S, R, C, A)
Accepted the offer of the Government of Italy to act as host to the United Nations Diplomatic Conference of Plenipotentiaries on the Establishment of an International Criminal Court. Requested the Preparatory Committee on the Establishment of an International Criminal Court to continue its work in accordance with General Assembly resolution 51/207 and, at the end of its sessions, to transmit to the Conference the text of a draft convention on the establishment of an international criminal court prepared in accordance with its mandate. Decided that the Conference, open to all States Members of the United Nations or members of specialized agencies or of the International Atomic Energy Agency, shall be held at Rome from 15 June to 17 July 1998, with a view to finalizing and adopting a convention on the establishment of an international criminal court, and requests the Secretary-General to invite those States to the Conference.
 
 
Res. 51/207 of 17 December 1996  (F, S, R, C, A)  
Decided to reaffirm the mandate of the Preparatory Committee, and directed it to proceed in accordance with paragraph 368 of its report. Decided also that the Preparatory Committee should meet from 11 to 21 February, 4 to 15 August and 1 to 12 December 1997, and from 16 March to 3 April 1998, in order to complete the drafting of a widely acceptable consolidated text of a convention, to be submitted to the diplomatic conference of plenipotentiaries, and requested the Secretary-General to provide the Preparatory Committee with the necessary facilities for the performance of its work. Decided further that a diplomatic conference of plenipotentiaries should be held in 1998, with a view to finalizing and adopting a convention on the establishment of an international criminal court.
 
 
Res. 50/46 of 11 December 1995  (F, S, R, C, A)
Decided to establish a preparatory committee open to all States Members of the United Nations or members of specialized agencies or of the International Atomic Energy Agency, to discuss further the major substantive and administrative issues arising out of the draft statute prepared by the International Law Commission and, taking into account the different views expressed during the meetings, to draft texts, with a view to preparing a widely acceptable consolidated text of a convention for an international criminal court as a next step towards consideration by a conference of plenipotentiaries, and also decided that the work of the Preparatory Committee should be based on the draft statute prepared by the International Law Commission and should take into account the report of the Ad Hoc Committee and the written comments submitted by States to the Secretary-General on the draft statute for an international criminal court pursuant to paragraph 4 of General Assembly resolution 49/53 and, as appropriate, contributions of relevant organizations. Also decided that the Preparatory Committee would meet from 25 March to 12 April and from 12 to 30 August 1996 and submit its report to the General Assembly at the beginning of its fifty-first session, and requested the Secretary-General to provide the Preparatory Committee with the necessary facilities for the performance of its work;
 

 
Res. 49/53 of 9 December 1994  (F, S, R, C, A)
Decided to establish an ad hoc committee, open to all States Members of the United Nations or members of specialized agencies, to review the major substantive and administrative issues arising out of the draft statute prepared by the International Law Commission and, in the light of that review, to consider arrangements for the convening of an international conference of plenipotentiaries. Also decided that the Ad Hoc Committee would meet from 3 to 13 April 1995 and, if it so decided, from 14 to 25 August 1995, and submit its report to the General Assembly at the beginning of its fiftieth session, and requested the Secretary-General to provide the Ad Hoc Committee with the necessary facilities for the performance of its work.
