Treaty Section - Technical Assistance

Mandate:
Pursuant to Article 102 of the Charter, the Treaty Section reviews, registers
and publishes all treaties and other international agreements in the United
Nations Treaty Series and in discharging the Secretary-General's depositary
functions, publishes the “Multilateral Treaties Deposited with the Secretary-General;”
In order to facilitate access to treaty information, maintains
an electronic database and information system, including the UN Treaty
Collection on the Internet; and
Provides advice and information on treaty law and related matters
to Member States, Specialized Agencies to the United Nations and
the Secretariats of Multilateral Conventions deposited with the Secretary-General
of the United Nation.
Assistance:
Advice and assistance on the treaty information maintained by
the Section;
Advice and assistance on treaty law and practice, in particular,
on final clauses;
Advice and assistance on becoming party to multilateral treaties,
including signature, ratification, accession etc; and
Advice and assistance with the electronic collection, storage and retrieval
of national treaty collections, using the UN Treaty Collection on
the Internet as a model.
