    • The Commission elected Mr. Mārtiņš Paparinskis (Latvia) as its Chair, Mr. Masahiko Asada (Japan) as the First Vice-Chair, Mr.Giuseppe Nesi (Italy) as Second Vice-Chair, Mr. Mario Oyarzábal (Argentina) as Chair of the Drafting Committee, and Mr. Ahmed Amin Fathalla (Egypt) as Rapporteur.

    • The Commission established the following four Working Groups of the Whole: The Working Group on Settlement of disputes to which international organizations are parties, to be chaired by the Special Rapporteur, Mr. August Reinisch; The Working Group on Non-legally binding international agreements, to be chaired by the Special Rapporteur, M. Mathias Forteau; The Working Group on Prevention and repression of piracy and armed robbery at sea, to be chaired by the Special Rapporteur, M. Louis Savadogo; and The Working Group on Succession of States in respect of State responsibility, to be chaired by Mr. Bimal Patel.

    • Statements were made in honour of the memory of former members Dr. P.S. Rao and Amb. Milan Šahović

    • The Special Rapporteur, Mr. Claudio Grossman, introduced his second report on the topic “Immunity of State officials from foreign criminal jurisdiction” (A/CN.4/780). The Commission began its consideration of the Special Rapporteur’s second report on the topic.

    • The Commission adopted the texts and titles of the draft articles adopted by the Drafting Committee at last year’s session, under the topic “Immunity of State officials from foreign criminal jurisdiction”, namely draft articles 1 (Scope of the present draft articles/ Champ d’application du présent projet d’articles), 3 (Persons enjoying immunity ratione personae/ Bénéficiaires de l’immunité ratione personae), 4 (Scope of immunity ratione personae/ Portée de l’immunité ratione personae) and 5 [6] (Scope of immunity ratione materiae/ Portée de l’immunité ratione materiae), as contained in document A/CN.4/L.1001.     • The Commission adopted Chapter I on “Introduction” (A/CN.4/L.1005), as amended. The Commission thus concluded its consideration of Chapter I on “Introduction”.

    • The Commission continued consideration of Chapter VII on “Subsidiary means for the determination of rules of international law” and adopted paragraphs 8, 28, 31 and 41 to 72 of section B. (A/CN.4/L.1010), as amended. The Commission thus concluded its consideration of Chapter VII on “Subsidiary means for the determination of rules of international law”.
  • Other decisions and conclusions of the Commission
    • The Commission adopted Chapter XII on “Other decisions and conclusions of the Commission” (A/CN.4/L.1016), as amended. The Commission thus concluded its consideration of Chapter XII on “Other decisions and conclusions of the Commission”.
    • The Commission decided to add the topics “Due diligence in international law” and “Compensation for the damage caused by internationally wrongful acts” to its programme of work, and appointed Ms. Penelope Ridings and Mr. Mārtiņš Paparinskis, respectively, as Special Rapporteurs.
  • Summary of the work of the Commission at its seventy-sixth session
    • The Commission adopted Chapter II on “Summary of the work of the Commission at its seventy-sixth session” (A/CN.4/L.1006), as amended. The Commission thus concluded its consideration of Chapter II on “Summary of the work of the Commission at its seventy-sixth session”.
  • Adoption of the report
    • The Commission adopted its report of the seventy-sixth session as a whole and thus concluded its work for that session.
