The 2017 meeting of the Legal Advisers of the UN System met on 25 and 26 May 2017 in Montreal, Canada. The meeting was hosted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). ICAO Senior Director, Mr. Ivan Galan, addressed the meeting on behalf of the ICAO Secretary-General.

The 2017 meeting of the Field Legal Advisers was held from 21 to 23 June 2017 at UNHQ in New York. Mr. Jean-Pierre Lacroix, Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Mr. Atul Khare, Under-Secretary-General for Field Support, and Mr. Taye Brook Zerihoun, Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs, addressed the meeting at its opening. The meetings are held to improve coordination and communication among the Legal Advisers and to promote system-wide legal coherence. The meetings also provide the Legal Counsel with an important opportunity to brief the Members of the Network on current legal issues facing the Organization.
