    • The Commission elected Mr. Dire Tladi (South Africa) as its Chair, Mr. Michael Wood (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) as the First Vice-Chair, Mr. Marcelo Vázquez-Bermúdez  (Ecuador) as Second Vice-Chair, Mr. Ki Gab Park (Republic of Korea) as Chair of the Drafting Committee, and Mr. Pavel Šturma (Czech Republic) as Rapporteur.

    • The Special Rapporteur, Mr. Dire Tladi, introduced his fifth report on “Peremptory norms of general international law (jus cogens)” (A/CN.4/747). The Commission began its consideration of the Special Rapporteur’s fifth report on the topic.

    • The Commission continued its consideration of the Special Rapporteur’s fifth report on the topic (A/CN.4/751).  The Special Rapporteur continued to sum up the debate on his fifth report.  The Commission decided in principle to change the form of the work on the topic from draft articles to draft guidelines.

    • The Commission decided to include the topics “Subsidiary means for the determination of rules of international law” in its programme of work and to appoint Mr. Charles Chernor Jalloh as Special Rapporteur.
